When people can't come to the library, we take the library to the people.

Besides our two community libraries we have set up classroom libraries in 64 schools where we hold regular weekly sessions. In addition, we visit around 30 remote villages each week to hold pop-up library and reading sessions across 10 panchayat blocks.

Our Methods

Prayog's mission is to nurture the joy of reading among young people through vibrant lbraries.

  • Through various outreach programmes we strive to make books accessible to anybody regardless of context or circumstance.
  • This is why we practice early intervention: introducing people to reading at a young age, thereby helping to build up a reading habit and setting the foundations for lifelong learning.
  • A library is more than just a room with books. Besides our carefully curated collection, we conduct reading sessions, book talks, games, and other library activities. These activities are designed to generate an interest in the books and help people connect better with their stories.
  • Our thematic approach introduces related books along with other reading activities, which children engage with over multiple sessions. We design our own standardised lesson plans allow us to streamline our approach as well as ensure children receive the best possible experience from the sessions.
